Sebastian Coe, President of World Athletics, made his name as one of the greatest 800/1500m runners in history. He is associated with Steve Cram and Steve Ovett for a series of head-to-head clashes in these distances.
He won four Olympic medals and at one point held four world records simultaneously.
Eamonn Coghlan won the 5,000m at the inagural World Championships in 1983 in Helsinki. His championship run is remembered for the ease with which he won, and the look of disbelief on his face when he did so.
Coghlan is noted for his miling career - especially indoors, where he set the world record three times and was the first man ever to break 3:50.
