50 years after I saved these shoes... 

I've coached for over 30 years...

Attended 9 World Championships and two Olympic Games...

Served for 6 years as president of the Washington State Cross Country Coaches Association...

Created a website, Trackerati.com...

Had media credentials for 3 4 World Championships - the Eugene one just came in! - and one Olympic Games... 

And crafted transformative legislation that addressed issues of diversity, equity, access, and the legislative process of the WIAA (Washington Interscholastic Activities Association) well before anything resembling a fertile culture for such change had developed. 

Most of all, my life in track drew me to a group of people so consistently outstanding it leaves me pinching myself at my good fortune.
