Posters 5 - T+F in Oregon 1972
Often thought to be the 1972 US Olympic Track and Field Trials poster, this actually is the poster for the entire 1972 track and field season.
The famous photograph is by Rich Clarkson.
Included in the photo are University of Oregon runners Steve Savage (approaching the barrier) and Mike Manley (at the top), with Barry Brown in front of him in white singlet and red shorts.
Framed under the legs of Manley and Brown is photographer William H. Freeman, a late 60s and early 70s graduate student at the University of Oregon. He is better known as the author of the 'periodization' and 'peak when it counts' series of track and field coaching books.
