Speaking of making your own luck... I first covered American record holder in the hammer, DeAnna Price, who is coached by her husband, JC Lambert, in 2015. 

We've established a respectful relationship, and I feel that I've come to know Price and Lambert better than most athletes/coaches I cover.

While it's important to maintain professional distance, it's also hard not to be moved when the unfolding of a multi-year progression results in a storybook dream-come-true outcome.
