Meet held at Hayward Field, University of Oregon, Eugene, Oregon.

It was only appropriate that Steve Prefontaine should be on the cover of the program for this memorable meet. 

The highlight race was a 1500m showdown between Oregon's Steve Prefontaine and Oregon State's Hailu Ebba. Pre squeaked out a 3:39.8-3:40.4 win; the issue was in doubt until the closing strides.
