While this is the men's document, I've included on the next page men' and women's World and American records set or equaled in the 1972 Olympic Trials.

The men's Trials were held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

The women's Trials were held at Governor Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick, Maryland.
