USC's Olympic Champion Randy Williams won the long jump in a windy 27-9, with James McAllister (UCLA) 2nd at 26-9 (w) and USC's Finn Bendixen 3rd in 26' 5 1/?" (w). (Bendixen's result is partially obscured.)
UCLA's Francois Tracanetti won the pole vault at 17-4.
Day 2 Highlights
Hailu Ebba (OSU) and Knut Kvalheim (UO) raced another epic mile at Hayward Field as Ebba edged Kvalheim for the win with both timed in 3:57.9; Mark Feig (UO) was 3rd in 3:59.5.
Mac Wilkins (UO) doubled back to add the discus to his shot win in 199-9.
Cal's Rick Brown won the 880 in a stellar 1:46.7.
Future Olympic Champion Don Quarrie won the 100y (9.6) and 220 (20.2).
Craig Brigham dominated the decathlon field in a new PB of 7673. He would be on this track three years later, too, making the 1976 Olympic Team in the same event.
Oregon State's Jeff Overson won the 400m hurdles in 51.3.

The Eugene Register-Guard says that this is Pre's last race as a collegian at Hayward Field, but Pre participated in the Twilight meet on 5/29/1973 ('73 Twilight #2).
This was also the last meet before the West Grandstand was torn down and the rebuilding of it got underway.
