Jeff Johnson says it's more likely I bought these Jay Hawks at a store other than The Athletic Department, used them to the point of needing new soles, and then had waffles soles put on to extend the life of the shoe - likely at Jim the Shoe Doctor in Eugene Oregon.
He also says that it's likely that Bowerman or Vixie put the soles on these shoes - that the Jay Hawks took sophisticated machinery to make.
Johnson also says that Blue Ribbon Sports never sold the Jay Hawks.
