I ran in this 1978 race, the 2^nd year the race was held.

The huge numbers of participants - over 5,000 - reflect the running boom in the United States.

The race had begun the year before with over 1,000 participants.

Don Kardong, 1976 Olympic Marathon 4th-placer, was the longtime director of the Bloomsday Race.
