I include this as a reference to my long career as an official. 

I take special pride in having been president of the Washington State Cross Country Coaches Association from 2000-2006, and to have officiated the State Meet in Pasco as a member of the Games Committee every year the meet has been in Pasco; it moved to Pasco's Sun Willows Golf Course in 1988!

While at the University of Oregon I was a volunteer timer for the JV meets my senior year, and was head timer for the last meet of the season.

I also timed workouts for Coach Dellinger.

My favorite moment came one day when I was timing Canadian sprinter Bob Martin in 100y repeats.

As he flew by, I read "10.8 - 10.9 - and corrected myself: 10.8!"

Martin was relentless. For weeks afterwards he was merciless at the start of practice.

"Is time moving backwards today?!"
