Pre won the two-mile in an exceptionally fast 8:24.6, with Paul Geis close behind at 8:24.8. The Eugene Register Guard notes that Pre's time was #11 all-time on the world list.

Todd Lathers was 3rd in 8:46.8, with Ken Moore ("TC.0" in results; likely OTC) close behind in 4th in 8:47.2.

Steve Bence set a personal record of 1:48.2 in the 880, with Clay Lowrey (OSU) pressing Bence to the finish in 1:48.7.

1971 AAU champ Tim Vollmer (Staters, as in Oregon Staters) handed Mac Wilkins a discus loss 202-10 to 196-6.

Meryl Barker (OTC) won the women's mile in 4:48.7, with Janet Newman (OTC) 2nd in 5:40.8.

Scott Daggatt won the men's mile in 4:03.1.

Bob Grubbs (UO) won the three-mile in 13:41.2, while OSU's Randy Brown was second in 13:46.8. Third was Russ Pate who went on to a distinguished career in sports physiology and exercise science.

Oregon State gave new meaning to the term sweep when it went 1-2-3-4 in the high jump, with Mike Fleer first in 7-0. Had they only given them a crossbar instead of a baton, they woulda won the high jump relay.
